mBot is a STEAM education robot for beginners, that makes teaching and learning robot programming simple and fun. With just a screwdriver and step-by-step instructions, students can build a robot from scratch and experience the joys of hands-on creation. As they go, they will learn about a variety of robotic machinery and electronic parts, get to grips with the fundamentals of block-based programming, and develop their logical thinking and design skills.
Create a program which has the mBot record the number of times a key is pushed over a defined period, storing this in a variable, which will represent seconds of driving time. Then the mBot moves forward for the number of seconds defined in the variable. In this way, students compete in a robot curling competition.
Design and build a paper contraption for controlling/trapping the soccer ball during play, and mount it to your mBot. Students will then play robot soccer in teams.
Patterns are everywhere! Music, video games, dance and even sports! This workshop will engage students to design and program (code) light, sound and movement patterns using the mBot.
Create a program which has their mBot move within an outlined circle autonomously, sensing when they have reached a line and changing course to stay within it. The Sumo mBot should also increase speed to charge at another robot which has been sensed within a given proximity. This requires use of the ultrasonic sensors.
Learn all about the ultrasonic sensor and IF-THEN-ELSE statements to create a program. The program will allow the mBot to approach an object, pose a question once the object is sensed, then perform an action based on the user response to the question (e.g. flee or approach further).
